The lane out of Maià de Montcal narrows until you're certain you've taken a wrong turn, then delivers you to the house at the end of it — the masía, its barn, the courtyard and pool, all inside the same four-hundred-year-old walls. Ten rooms, no more, which is what keeps it intimate: the place can be nearly full and still feel like it's yours.
The days have an open shape, breakfast by the pool, a morning in the garden yoga studio, a ride into the foothills, the long table at night. And through all of it, the quiet: the place can be nearly full and still the loudest thing is the wind and your own breath.
